Education and carrier in media
Media education is older than we generally imagine. In India Punjab University in Lahore ran a course in journalism way back in 1941. From there may universities followed suit. Today there are more than 100 institutions (including university Departments) in the country which offer journalism and other aspects of mass communication. Such academic activity is a very healthy sign. It indicates that we have accepted the pivotal role of the media in society and that this academic background will improve the quality of the media.
Right now it is boom time for media. Magazines, T.V. Channels, websites, e-majoring, movies, advertising, other, printed media and electronic media are proliferating all around us. Such frenzied activity will lead to more and better job opportunities. Which in turn will make the media more attractive as a career and profession.
